Tree Dismantling Operations & Rigging

 

This unit covers the use of the chainsaw and lowering equipment working from a rope and harness in conjunction with a ground person in medium sized open grown trees. It also includes the use of climbing irons.

 

Course Objective

To enable course members to:

bullet

Identify, inspect and comment upon key parts of the equipment to be used.

bullet

Prepare the equipment for use ensuring the safety of themselves, other people and the environment.

bullet

Comment upon the structure, condition and properties of the tree(s) to be worked upon.

bullet

Use a chainsaw and other pruning tools whilst maintaining a working position within the crown of a tree using a rope and harness in conjunction with ground staff.

bullet

Select appropriate lowering equipment e.g. ropes, pulleys, friction devices.

 

Course Aim

To enable the trainee to dismantle a tree safely, using techniques suitable for the location and the tree without causing damage to the surroundings.

Who is the Course For? 

Arboricultural workers who are experienced in using a chainsaw from a rope & harness and who wish to develop their skills to remove part crowns, whole crowns or entire trees situated above dropping zones.

 

The course requires both mental and physical agility in the trees.

 

Pre-requisites

Prior to assessment in CS41 Candidates must achieve Units CS30, CS31, CS38 and CS39.

 

Duration 5 days including Assessment.
